About the Project

The NOVELA ("Novels in Latin") project aims to create a comprehensive digital edition of 24 Latin novels from the 17th and 18th centuries. This digital platform goes beyond traditional editions by offering innovative ways to explore, analyze, and understand these important literary works.

Our approach emphasizes both philological accuracy and digital innovation, providing scholars, students, and general readers with powerful tools for textual exploration. The platform offers parallel Latin-English reading, linguistic analysis through Alpheios integration, and advanced visualization of narrative structures.

Through the use of TEI/XML encoding and Linked Open Data principles, we aim to make these texts not only readable but also analyzable and reusable for diverse scholarly purposes.
