HEDIT KI-Workshop 2026

Knowledge, Context and Agentic Engineering for Digital Scholarly Editions

Event Research Centre HEDIT, Heidelberg University Language German Licence CC BY 4.0

Abstract

The two-day workshop connects generative AI with TEI XML, project knowledge and agentic software development for digital editions. The first day establishes model foundations, data modelling, Context Engineering and Promptotyping. On the second day, participants use their own material to build a documented knowledge base and develop a small edition prototype whose data and interface can be inspected together.

Learning objectives

  • Relate TEI modelling decisions to model context and project documentation.
  • Prepare participant material as an inspectable working environment.
  • Commission and review an agent-supported edition task.
  • Develop a small edition prototype from documented requirements.

Outline

  1. Foundations of generative AI and prompt engineering
  2. TEI modelling, Context Engineering and maintained project knowledge
  3. Agentic coding and edition workflows
  4. Knowledge base and prototype on participant material
  5. TEI edition, refinement and presentation
